Monday 5-11-2018

Today, it was just a normal school day.

All Italians, Greeks and Spaniards arrived late in the afternoon / evening.

The Italians arrived at 8:23 pm, but it took a while before they passed the Gates, because they forgot to print the tickets to get off the station.

When they came through the gates, I visited my exchange student and greeted him.

Then we went to our house by car.

I showed him everything and gave him a sort of housetour. After the housetour, he took a shower. We went to bed at 22.30 pm.

Tuesday 6-11-2018

We woke up at 6.30 am. We ate bread. Fabio could choose what he wanted on his bread, cheese, chocolade etc. In the morning at 8:15 am to school by bike, and around 9:30 am everyone was there. First Mrs. Kroezen told something about herself and about the project.

Then Mr. Duinkerken and Mr. Oosting spoke about himself.

Then the director told something about the school and about the project.

Then all Italian, Greek and Spanish teachers started to talk about themselves and which subjects they teach at their own school. Also each student had to tell something about themselve: name, age and what he / she likes about the Netherlands.

Once finished with the proposal round we went on tour with the groups made: the gymnasium, classrooms, media library, music room, toilets, lockers, auditoriums, bicycle shed / place we all showed. The group of mine and Oscar also visited Mrs. Hegen (economic teacher). We also visited Mrs. Hidding, but she was very busy, so she didn’t liked it that we came in her classroom. When we finished the tour we went to the second floor  (middle room), where we chilled, chatted and laughed for about 20 minutes. After those 20 minutes we went to a classroom on the second floor where we did a quiz in the same groups (we worked with the same group all week). The quiz was approximately finished at 12:00. From 12:00 we were allowed to do something for ourselves until 13:30. At 13:30 we had to gather at the church in the city (main street). In that one and a half hour we went into the  town with a number of students.

Some went to taste an oliebol! And some a slush puppy! There were also some Spanish guys who wanted to go to the Coolcat, but we didn't understand them because they kept saying, "can we go to the kloten?" When it was 13:30 we had to gather for the church. We started doing assignments in your own group: drawing logos, making separate selfies and going to the mill. At the mill we had a tour through the mill. If we were done with that, then you had to give it in to Mrs. Kroezen and Mr. Duinkerken who were sitting on a terrace. We also had to send all selfies. If you had time left, you could still enter the city (main street) in a pleasant way.

At 4 pm. we had to assemble in front of the town to take a picture with the whole group. All students and teachers had to wear an Erasmus + project T-shirt.

When that was done you were allowed to do what you wanted. In the evening I, Luuk, Tess, Joran and Danny (with ofcourse all exchange students) went to Danny to chill. We started chatting, laughing, playing Mario Kart, WII Bowling, and watching YouTube. It was really nice. the students also ate pepernoten. Pepernoten a tipical Dutch food. It’s a kind of tradition. Pepernoten are made of dough. About 23.00 pm my mother was there by car to pick us up, and we went back to our home.

Wednesday 7-11-2018

We had to be at school at 9 am. My mother brought us to school. we had to gather in the middle room. When everyone was there, all Dutch students and teachers went to a room, and all Italians, Greeks and Spaniards also sat separately in the middle room. We started evaluating how it went and we could possibly give tips to people who had trouble with something. When we were done with that, we had to do an assignment in the regular groups: grab several folded papers and make a mini report about that subject with specific points in it. Around 10:45 we had a break until 11:10. Each group took half a lesson. The group of me and Oscar followed Mrs. Mulder's study of social studies. Halfway through class we left class and back to our own room. We continued to work with the mini reports in our own room. Around 12:40 we had a break and we sat together (almost) all together. Around 13:10 we went to the school yard waiting for the bus. Around 13:30 we left for Westerbork. Once we arrived, we were first shown a video of approximately 10/15 minutes. Then we went to the museum. Then we went again by bus to the camp Westerbork. We went there to take a photo. There wasn't much to see, which is a shame. When we were done we went back to Hoogeveen by bus. First all foreign teachers were dropped off at Motel Hoogeveen. Then we were dropped off at school. my mother picked us up again. When we where at home we went for a nice pancake dinner! Around 6:35 pm we went to basketball training until 8:30 pm. Fabio liked it very much.

Thursday 8-11-2018

The alarm clock rang at 7:00 am. I went downstairs and made my lunch. About 10 minutes later Fabio arrived too. After our dinner I went upstairs to brush my teeth, do hair, etc. around 8:30 am we went to school. My father brought us by car. We were a little early, but that wasn't a problem. I saw my own class so I went there to say hello. They were very curious how it went and if I liked it. Around 09:00 the Dutch students and teachers went to a classroom to evaluate. The Italians, Greeks and Spaniards started evaluating in the middle room. At 9:30 am we went to work in the same groups. We had the assignment to make a mini presentation about our own attraction / building that the Netherlands would miss. Our group made the "Hoogeveense World Tower". At 12:00 we went by bus to Wildlands. A lot of foreign students thought it was wonderful and went into all play equipments. At 17:00 we walked back to the bus and at 17:15 we left for Hoogeveen again.

We went to eat fries. Fabio tried a croquette and he liked it.

In the evening me and Fabio went to watch the movie "Fast & Furious 5" on Netflix.

Friday 9-11-2018

We had to be at school at 8:55 am. My mother took us to school.

First another evaluation with all Dutch students and teachers. Around 9:30 am we started preparing for the presentation in the groups. Around 11:15 we started the presentation. The group of me and Oscar were next in turn. The presentation went reasonably well, but you could very well notice that we Dutch can speak better English than the Italians, Greeks and Spaniards.

After all the presentation, we immediately went to the bus to go to the Bonte Wever. We went for a nice swim there until about 3:45 pm. Everyone had to be on the bus at 16:00. We were back at school around 4:45 pm. before that we dropped off all the teachers at the Motel. In the evening I had a basketball match. Fabio also came with my mother to watch. I had an incident in the match so my left leg did really hurt and I had to walk on crutches.

Saturday 10-11-2018

Being at school at 7:45 am. The bus left for Amsterdam at 8 a.m.

Around 10:00 we arrived in Amsterdam. We walked to Nemo by foot. We stayed at Nemo until 12:00. From the museum we walked to the boat. By boat we got a tour through the canals of Amsterdam. Until we were back on the boat trip you were allowed to enter the city. We had 1 hour and 45 minutes. Me, Niels, Keran and Mike went to the KFC, where it was very busy. Then we went to the MediaMarkt, where Niels wanted to look for new ear plugs. When we came out of the MediaMarkt it was almost time so we went back. Unfortunately it rained hard. On the way back I quickly bought a white chocolate milk from the Star Bucks. We went back to school around 6 p.m. Around 7 pm. we all went to school for the party. A 2nd class in our school took care of the music. Everyone brought food, because we went to eat at school.

After dinner we went to party, and the exchange students went completely crazy. At the end, Mrs. Kroezen gave a certificate to all exchange students and teachers. The party ended around 11 pm.
