Monday 5 November 

We first had to go to school. Around 8 pm I could pick up my student, when we got home we gave her a little tour around the house. I showed her her room and left her alone to go to bed. I went downstairs to eat something because she had already eaten something at the train station, later she came downstairs and gave us a gift with some food and other things. 

 

Tuesday 6 November 

We woke up around 7 am and around half past seven we were eating downstairs. She went upstairs again to get ready and I stayed downstairs to do some stuff on my phone. 

We went to school at around half past seven because I was afraid that she cycled very slow, eventually it turned out that she cycled pretty slow but we were there within ten minutes. When we arrived at school we had to wait a while. After we were all there, we got an explanation about the week and the director also came to say something. 

We gathered our group and gave a tour around the school. After the tour we did a quiz. After the quiz we got a pretty long break because we did not leave until later. 

Around 1 o'clock we headed towards the center, we were with a whole group of girls, some of who had come by car so they had to walk with another group of girls. When we were in the center there was still time, so we walked around for a while. When the teachers were finally there we gathered our group again and we got some explanation about the quest. We had to draw logos and take pictures. 

We started to draw the logos. When we finished that a little later we went to take the photos. We were pretty quick with the photos so we had to wait until we had to go to the mill. When we were in the mill we got an explanation about the history about the mill and we were allowed to go upstairs where it was told how they ground flour. We were also allowed to stand outside on the platform, and the view was very beautiful. 

After the mill we walked to the teachers on the terrace and handed in our booklet. We had to wait a long time for the photo with the whole group. We gathered around 4 o'clock at the town hall for some pictures. We agreed with a few girls to walk through the center and some stores. We first went to the doughnut ball stall, but because they had no normal fried doughnut balls were already a few girls away. 

We then walked through the Hema and Action with a couple of other girls. Then we went home because it was already dark and late. We ate pancakes in the evening and she seemed to like it. After that she wanted to take a shower so I showed her how the shower worked and I went downstairs again. A little later everyone went to sleep. 

 

Wednesday 7 November 

We got up again around 7 o'clock and were back at breakfast around 8:30. We then both went upstairs to prepare even further. We were ready very early so when we had our bread ready around 8 pm we went to school much too early. 

After everyone else went there we went into a room with our own country and we talked a bit about how things had gone and a little later we were busy with the assignment in our groups. We had to look up some information about two tourist attractions in Drenthe. When we had finished everything we had to take a lesson so that the students could learn how things are going in the Netherlands. When the lessons were finished, we went for a ten-minute break. At a quarter past 1 we had to be on the bus to go to Westerbork. The drive lasted about half an hour and was therefore quite fast. When we arrived at Westerbork we first had to wait outside and then we were allowed inside for a movie. After the film we were allowed to walk around the museum and about twenty / thirty minutes later we were allowed to take a bus to go to the site.      There we went along the train where people were transported, the place where all the victims were commemorated and along the train track. There we stood watching for a moment and then we walked back to wait for the bus. When we arrived at the museum again we walked to our own bus to get back to Hoogeveen, there we were around half past six. At home we ate endive stew because we had to leave quickly for the education fair in Zwolle, that was to look at a new school for me. 

 

Thursday 8 November 

We got up again at 7 a.m. and were eating again around half past seven. We were ready again very early so we left again at 8:25 pm. We had to wait again until everyone was there and then we started talking again about how it went and what we were going to do. After the evaluation we started collecting our group again and then we started the presentation about a tourist attraction that we do not yet have in Hoogeveen. After discussing what we wanted to do, we came up with an idea and started with the PowerPoint. When we were finished after a while we had to wait for a long time until we were allowed to go down for the break. We had little break because we had to be on the bus fifteen minutes later to go to Wildlands. 

When we were there we had to wait outside for a while. When we got inside a little later we walked around with our own friends and eventually I walked with 1 other person because the rest was pretty slow. We walked through the park quite quickly because we had both been there once before, so it was less fun then the first time .We went into all the attractions a few times and then we had actually seen almost everything so we walked back around 4 to the beginning to wait another half hour in the cold. When everyone was there we walked towards the bus and then we drove back to Hoogeveen. When we were back we almost went to eat again, but she went to take a quick shower before dinner. We ate fries and she already knew that. In the evening we went to a few other girls to socialize. We were there for about 2 hours and then went back home to sleep. 

 

Friday 9 November 

Just like the whole week we got up again at 7 am and did the same as we did every day. When we were at school and the rest was there, we started the evaluation again and were allowed to go through the presentation and improve it a bit. At around 11 o'clock we started presenting and I thought the presentation went very well. The presentations were slightly delayed and so around a quarter past 12 we were on the bus. 

We arrived there around a quarter to one and went swimming for quite a while. It was a very large swimming pool. Around 4 o'clock we changed clothes and half an hour later we were all back on the bus. We were back around 5 and then went back home to eat. We ate chicken with carrots and corn. In the evening we went bowling with two others. It turned out that everyone of the group went to the city center so we walked around with them for fifteen minutes and then we walked to the bowling center. We were there for an hour and then went back, because my phone was empty, we first had to walk to the house of the girl we went bowling with to call my dad. Eventually we were brought home by her mother and it was already quite late so we both went to sleep. 

 

 

 

Saturday 10 November 

We had to get up at 6 am to arrive on time for the bus. We had breakfast around half past six and then went upstairs to get ready. At about a quarter past seven we went to school. When we were on the bus it was about half past seven and we had to wait for the last people, we left around a quarter to eight. It was about a 2 hour drive to Amsterdam.  

When we arrived in Amsterdam we were dropped off at Nemo. We were allowed to walk around there for quite a while and then we got a boat trip through the canals. We sailed around for an hour and then we were dropped off at Nemo. After sailing we had to walk a long way to the dam. We were dropped off and then we were allowed to walk around freely. We would first walk in a group but because one other and I were with the pigeons, the rest was already gone so we walked together. We first went to the Starbucks. Then we called the others to ask where they were, but we couldn't find them. After the Starbucks we went to the KFC, we had some food there and then we walked to Dunkin Donuts. We then had half an hour left so we went into a few shops. We were back a little early at the Dam so we had to wait in the rain. When everyone was there we went back to Nemo because the bus was there again. When everyone was back on the bus it was already 4 o'clock . When we finally got back to Hoogeveen it was a quarter past six, we drove home and then we had to wait until the party started. At 7 pm we went back to school and ten minutes later we were there. We went to eat around a quarter to eight and after that it was very nice. When we got home we went straight to bed because it had become very late. 

 

Sunday 11 November 

 We got up around half past ten and then went for breakfast, we had put some croissants in the oven and also gave her some presents, including a cheese slicer and a block of cheese. Then she went on to pack her bag and I started to get ready. At half past eleven we headed for the station and around twenty past 11. We said goodbye, the train came and then we waved them goodbye.
